welcome

The year 2008 marks the 60th birthday of Prof Alan Plumb of MIT: to celebrate this occasion we are organizing a Symposium and a Festschrift volume.

The Symposium will be held at Columbia University in New York City, on Friday and Saturday, October 24-25, 2008. It will run a day and a half, and consist of a dozen invited talks and a banquet (on Friday night, October 24th).

The confirmed Symposium speakers are as follows: Joan Alexander, Marv Geller, Lesley Gray, Joanna Haigh, Isaac Held, Paul Kushner, Paul Newman, Alan Plumb, Bill Randel, Ross Salawich, Ted Shepherd, Mark Schoeberl, and Darryn Waugh.

Syposium attendance is free of charge, but registration is required. The registration deadline is October 1, 2008. Several travel scholarships will be available for qualifying graduate students (apply on the registration page).

We are looking forward to seeing you this Autumn in New York!
